11 Tips For Professional Tile And Grout Cleaning
Home   »  11 Tips For Professional Tile And Grout Cleaning

Nothing compares to the feeling of walking into a bathroom or kitchen that is as clean and welcoming as a place that has been built with cleanliness in mind. You want to make sure that the area surrounding all of your rooms is constantly clean and appealing to the eye. However, keeping a really clean bathroom and kitchen may be a difficult job for the ordinary homeowner, particularly when it comes to tile and grout cleaning in the kitchen and bathroom. Some simple tips and techniques that can help you clean your tile and grout:

1. Every day, clean the bathroom/kitchen a little

Cleaning bathroom/kitchen floor tiles, wiping down the tile backsplash and countertops and doing other little chores that will assist to keep your kitchen or bathroom looking clean and fresh throughout the week. Daily deep grout cleaning isn’t required, nor is it necessary to do so. Doing those twenty-second chores every twenty-four hours makes it simpler to tackle the additional cleaning duties every two weeks.

2. Clean the Tiles using a vacuum cleaner

Vacuuming your tile floors on a regular basis may help to keep them from getting dull. The use of a vacuum may assist in removing loose debris, pet hair, and grime from tiles, whether they are on a wall or on the floor. Ensure that you are vacuuming on a regular basis so that you can get rid of any loose dust and debris before it becomes ground in and builds into the flooring as people walkabout.

3. Scrub the surfaces

For deep tile and grout cleaning, let your tile cleaner rest for about five minutes before beginning to swipe it. Spray the tile cleanser generously, then let it work its magic on the dirt on the tiles before washing them clean. Scrub the grout with a non-abrasive cleaning instrument, since it is more absorbent. After washing and cleaning the surfaces, make sure to properly clean the cleaners.

4. Ensure that all surfaces are completely dry

Water stains on tiles are almost usually formed by standing water. As a result, it is essential that you dry the tile flooring immediately after cleaning it with a clean, lint-free piece of cloth. Also, keep in mind that wet flooring may be a threat to one’s health and safety. Colour-coded dry cloths should be used to prevent cross-contamination of various surfaces with remaining surface bacteria after tile and grout cleaning.

5. Placemats or rugs in high traffic areas

The kitchen is one of the areas in your house that receives a lot of foot activity. By strategically putting mats or rugs around high-traffic areas, you can reduce the amount of wear and tear on your tile flooring. Put a mat at the entrances to the house to reduce wear and tear on the tiles immediately inside the door. In addition, you may put another one just in front of the kitchen sink to prevent water from seeping into the tiles in that part of the kitchen.

6. Soap Residue Should Be Avoided

Every one of us has been there. You spend hours tile and grout cleaning only to discover that there are white streaks or stains on the surface of the tiles after the water has dried. The unpleasant result of utilizing cleaning solutions that are not designed for use on tiled surfaces is that the tiles get stained. If you finish up with white soap residue, don’t be concerned; just add a little bit of vinegar and let it rest for a few minutes to dissolve it away. For optimum results, rinse thoroughly with clean water.

7. Tile and grout cleaning with an oxygen-based bleach

A very effective method for tile and grout cleaning is using oxygen-based bleach. Mix the diluted bleach solution in a bucket of warm water. Pour or sponge the diluted solution over the grout and wait up to 15 minutes for the grout to absorb the solution. After that, clean the grout lines with the solution and a hard brush.

8. Grout cleaning with baking soda

Baking soda may also be used for grout cleaning. Coat the grout lines with a thin coating of baking soda. Lightly wet the baking soda and create a paste using a spray bottle filled with water. Allow for thirty minutes for this paste to settle on the tile grout. Fill a bucket halfway with two cups of vinegar and half-gallon warm water once the paste has had time to soak in. Scrub the grout with a nylon brush soaked in this solution.

9. Mouthwash solution can clean tile and grout

Clean and disinfect tile floors by mixing one-half teaspoon of mouthwash with one gallon of warm water. While this combination is excellent for tile floors, it is not recommended for wooden floors.

10. Grout cleaning with Borax

In a bucket, combine 1/4 cup borax, 1/2 cup vinegar, 2 teaspoons liquid soap, and one-gallon warm water for grout and tile cleaning. Wipe the floors clean with a mop soaked in this solution and repeat until the floor is well cleaned.
